Art Gallery
Creating spaces with rich texture, & culture.
Our goal is to provide a world class venue for emerging and established artists to showcase their talents. Our focus is on local artists from British Columbia and we are proud to share their work with an audience of worldwide guests.
We have partnered with Peninsula Gallery, who keeps our lobby updated with fresh artwork from some of the island’s best artists. Founded in 1986, Peninsula gallery has provided Brentwood Bay Resort with their guidance and expertise and without them our lobby would not be the way it is today.
Peninsula gallery is located just 15 minutes north of the resort in beautiful waterfront town of Sidney, and we recommend check them out on your trip to the Saanich Peninsula .

Art by Di
Canadian artist Di was born in Vancouver in 1984 and graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Major in Archaeology. As a self-taught artist her style evolved through the exploration of using bright solid colours and flowing lines to reduce the endless detail of life into calming, simplistic beauty.
Di’s body of work includes acrylic paintings and digital illustration. Her art has been shown in galleries on Bowen Island, Vancouver, Victoria and in private collections across North America. Recently she created three murals for the BC Children’s Hospital and her 2021 solo exhibition ‘Art for Sea to Sky’ raised funds and awareness for conservation initiatives in Howe Sound. Di works from her home studio on Bowen Island where she is often found exploring land and sea with her husband, daughter and two dogs. Current works can be found at the Brentwood Bay Resort, Van Dop Gallery, Catching Stars Gallery or online at www.artbydi.ca
Mark Heine
Mark Heine was raised by artists to be an artist. His was a childhood spent wandering his father’s massive warehouse studio, absorbing the progress and process of the monumental projects underway. It was art by the ton, measured in yards, not inches. There were always diverse skills in action, to watch and learn from … sculptors, designers, architects and artisans, working in plaster, resin, concrete, fibreglass, wood, stained glass, tapestry and, of course, paint. Mark’s father, Harry Heine, RSMA, CSMA, FCA, NNWWS (1928-2004), would eventually became one of Canada’s most celebrated artists, culminating with his election to the Royal Society of Marine Artists in England. He is the only Canadian to ever have achieved that status.
Mark Heine’s work has appeared in numerous print and online publications. He has come to realize that he is a storyteller. Writing has long been a key component of his creative process, and the symbiotic relationship of these two distinct disciplines has led to a unique approach to both. Bringing one of those stories to life – to larger than life – marrying fiction to painting, is the focus of his most recent works: the Sirens series. Each of his paintings is a captured moment in his coming Sirens book, a work of fiction in the genre of imaginative realism.
Misha Smart
I grew up on Piers Island where I was surrounded by tall trees, sandy shores and a salty breeze. I spent my days hunting for crabs, building forts in the mossy forest and riding my bike along the dirt road. I spent my nights swimming in the phosphorescence and sleeping outside, waiting for the next shooting star. I continue to do these things today and encourage anyone taking the time to read this to do the same. These experiences do not tire with age.
Through the works I produce, I aim to share my vision of the West Coast of Canada. Those who have experienced this magical place know the wonders it beholds and the sense of freedom and empowerment it instills. I feel so fortunate to live in such a place and aspire to communicate this with my audience.
Randy Wachtin
Randy Wachtin is an emerging landscape photographic artist who lives near the ocean on Vancouver Island, a settler on the unceded territory of the ləḱwəŋən peoples.
His unique, monochromatic infrared photographic style incorporating long exposures, reveals an ethereal beauty of his muse; the Cascadia biodiverse region of the Pacific Northwest.
Wachtin is a fourth generation graphic arts professional with roots in letterpress printing. He is a self-taught photographer and printmaker. His infrared long exposure photography is an art form that utilises light from the infrared spectrum to create beautiful, surreal images. It captures more than the ordinary human eye can see, allowing the photographer to create unique, dreamlike images of the land and sky.
He continues to self develop his craft as he processes each image and personally prints archival carbon pigment prints on museum grade cotton rag papers in his home studio. In addition, he outsources specialised printing on sheer matte ChromaLuxe aluminium panels that amplifies the ethereal properties of infrared photography.
Results are truly stunning, with an otherworldly atmosphere and an unmistakable, captivating beauty.
