Brentwood Bay Resort Deepens Commitment to Sustainability and Regenerative Tourism

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brentwood Bay Resort Deepens Commitment to Sustainability and Regenerative Tourism

Brentwood Bay, BC (February 5, 2026) — At Brentwood Bay Resort, sustainability is not a single initiative, but an ongoing commitment to place, people, and purpose. Guided by regenerative tourism principles, the resort continues to evolve its approach to hospitality — seeking not only to minimize impact, but to actively contribute to the health of the local environment, culture, and community.

At the heart of the resort, The Arbutus Room’s farm-to-table and sea-to-table culinary philosophy is led by Executive Chef Aaron Turner with Chef Kelley Storey. By developing relationships with local farmers, fishers, and producers, the culinary team has prioritized seasonal, sustainably sourced ingredients all from within 150kms of the resort.

These partnerships are intentionally woven into the guest experience — inviting visitors to understand where their food comes from, who grows and harvests it, and why those connections matter. The result is dining that is rooted in place, enriched by story, and reflective of the region’s natural abundance.

Beyond the table, Brentwood Bay Resort’s commitment to sustainability is expressed through thoughtfully considered relationships with community members, local charity organizations, and curated guest experiences that celebrate culture and creativity. The resort’s long-term relationship with local charity, Power To Be is deeply aligned with commitments to inclusion, reconciliation, and environmental stewardship. Through meaningful relationships with W̱SÁNEĆ people, the resort has permission to share cultural stories, acknowledge traditions, and share factually accurate history to bring understanding and meaning to visitors to the W̱SÁNEĆ territory.

Recently, the team appreciated the opportunity to contribute their perspective on regenerative hospitality as part of the Day of Impact during the Impact Sustainability Conference’s Day of Impact.  The event welcomed resort colleague Ruth Underwood, W̱SÁNEĆ, and her family, Romaine Underwood, Abigail Underwood, and Kendra Page to share songs from their W̱SÁNEĆ territory and from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory.  The Raven Mask was unveiled, a new piece from carver, Earl Magnussen, LAX – KW’ALAAMS, whose work reflects a deep connection to land and storytelling.  Thank you for being a part of this day and we extend sincere gratitude to industry peers committed to shaping a more responsible future for tourism.

“Our approach to sustainability is rooted in relationships and considers the contribution we make in everything we do — for the land, with our community, and with the people who share their knowledge, culture, and traditions with us,” says Natasha Richardson, CEO of Brentwood Bay Resort. “Regenerative tourism means giving back more than we take and creating space for meaningful cultural exchange that benefits both our guests and the community we are privileged to be part of.”

By centering relationships, respecting place, and investing in local partnerships, Brentwood Bay Resort continues to demonstrate how thoughtful hospitality can support thriving communities while offering guests meaningful, restorative experiences.

We at Brentwood Bay Resort gratefully acknowledge that we live, work, and play in W̱SÁNEĆ territory.
